Foursquare! What the heck is Foursquare? That’s exactly the same question I asked myself, when I first read about it at Nokia Experts. Apparently Matt from NE has been testing the beta version of the app and has been given the thumbs up from the developers to spill some info on the app, ahead of its release.

Are you still looking for a simple way to tweet from your N900? Yeah I know there is Mauku and there is always the Twitter website but didn’t I already talk about the limitations of these apps/services earlier? Hahlo, is one great web app for tweeting from N900 and if you happen to dislike Hahlo just for aesthetics or whatever the reason be, you now have a ray of hope. Enter Twitter plugin for Conversations and Contacts which can let N900ers tweet directly from the VoIP/IM window of the Maemo 5 OS. Looks super cool right? After pitching- in Hahlo and Mauku in a twitter showdown, we did see Hahlo beat Mauku hands down in all of the three rounds but yet with the white screen of death still plaguing the Mini B browser, tweeting from N900 continues to be not as smooth an experience as on my iPhone. Just when I was thinking of just using the twitter  site for all my tweeting from N900, I landed on this latest twitter app-Witter.

Witter is still in its stages of infancy with its developer, Daniel having just released the beta v0.1.1-2 and is available in the extras-devel of the Maemo repository. The latest version of Witter brings threads, auto-refresh of feeds, support for multiple search terms separated by commas etc. Are the new features worth the shift from Hahlo? Having sorted out ‘facebook’ing from N900 last night, it was time to check on my second favorite online activity-Tweeting. The micro-blog service of Twitter has really caught on me and I just can’t imagine a day without accessing Twitter for Twitter is my new Google for its user generated content for search phrases have that human touch to it and are updated in real time making it a far better search engine than any of the automated search engines in market today.

Whether you find Twitter as an ideal replacement for google as the search engine of choice is debatable but the addiction to Twitter is unquestionable not only for me but for millions of netizens out there, for whom tweeting is as much a part of everyday routine as brushing their teeth!
